Philadelphia Daily News staff writer Stan Hochman details and reviews "The Curse of William Penn" as part of the publications two-day series WINTER OF OUR DISCONTENT.Two elements add luster to the film. One is the impersonations by Joe Conklin. The other is the dazzling animation, the artistry of Mari Jaye Blanchard. Croce cackles and says, "You guys are crazy." Dick Jerardi says bluntly, "Our teams weren't good enough." Dan Harrell, the man who takes care of the Palestra, and has seen his share of ghosts, wonders aloud whether maybe too many of our teams "sucked." The guy who walks around town dressed like Ben Franklin suggests that Penn wouldn't have liked strangers tugging those oversized caps and jerseys on his statue every time a team got close...
If the Eagles had won, and then gotten even with the Bears for the Fog Bowl and then gotten revenge on the Patriots for the Super Bowl defeat, Phrustrated Phan Films might have had a quaint but obsolete DVD on their hands. Ah, but the Eagles lost...

The Philadelphia Daily News publishes a 31-page spread on Philadelphia's professional sports drought entitled "23 Years of Tears." Phrustrated Phan Films quoted in "What Would it Mean to Win a Championship?"It would mean everything! It would be a tremendous outpouring of emotion from so many gut wrenching incidents and the purging of so many years of heartbreak. It would give Philly what it needs most - a boost of pride as Philuvians gather to celebrate for the first time in a generation and once again say "New York you can take this championship and stick it!"
